Ok, so not QUITE a rocket powered 31 5 window...I do have a 303 and a 31 5 window, but the marriage has not been consumated. But I get ahead of myself... My name is Jerry, I live on the east side of Berkely - Bolton, Vermont to be exact. Civil unions, Ben and Jerry's, high taxes, bad weather, you name it we got it. I am a husband and father of two (father of two, not husband of two - that could be fun, or not). Did some time in the Marines, but I will try to keep that in check... My pops, deceased a few years now-cancer, was the original crazy frenchman. We did alot of restorations in the 80's when I was in high school and he was slowing down on his day job (lumberjack - but no ladies clothes). Porsche 356's, some muscle, lots of 50's trucks, cars, etc. We had a car carrier and a 5th wheel van conversion and brought em home and fixed them up. I learned to driver on a 53 Chevy pickup with a straight six. His work truck was a 53 Ford truck with a flatty. We built a plow truck out of a scout 800 frame and running gear with a 53 ford cab and bed stuck on top. Lengthened and flattened the frame, put in an Eldorado leather power seat, junk yard power steering, etc. From ten feet it was a 53 Ford, then you noticed the 4WD. We called it "the thing" cause that is what my mom called it. I miss that one. My dad was a model A guy. 1931 to be exact. The year he was born. He had a 31 peekup and 31 5 window rumble seat in primer since I was a toddler, but never restored them. Dunno why. Too busy I guess. I inherited the coupe, my sister got the truck. We sold off a 34 1 ton dually and that is the seed money for this project. Luckily for me, my dad's first new car was a 50 olds rocket with a "tree on da tree" (you have to understand the Quebec french accent to get that one). He got on back in the early 90's and restored it. Apparently he had an extra long block cause I found it when we were cleaning out the shop and splitting up the goods. I think that was just a sign from heaven... My dad's last project was a concourse resto of a 42 Harley Servicar (three wheeler). We replated all the original spokes, fasterners, etc. Only thing new is the hand grips, tires, seat cover, and kick pedal. Its a beauty and a treasure. Sooo, why am I here? Well. my sis is doing the factory correct resto, but I am going to do a period correct resto! But the period is not gonna be 1930...should be a trip. I dont plan to chop it, its just too nice and my dad would rain down hell on my if I did... Oh, my last project was a 79 Scout Traveler with 345 and a lift (yah dad had scouts too). Cool rig. My daily driver. I sold my 72 C-10 with a factory 402 to buy the Scout cause I moved onto a mountain. The binderbulletin is a message board much like this, but for corn binders, and was super helpful in getting that running. I stumbled across the HAMB while doing some prelim research on the 303, lurked awhile, and here I am. This winter I will be getting into the A, and I am sure I will be posting some questions for the Rocketeers out there. I will search till my fingers bleed and my eyes dry out. If not, you will slap me down. I'm cool with that. Alright! As long as that Jesse James guyr doesn't keep bugging me with silly FNG questions all day, I think we will get along just fine. J
