The 34 is coming together nicely! The flatty looks awesome.

  3. I bought some new tires from Jeffrey James, they are new and he was not using them so I stepped up, thanks again pal! They showed up today so after work I mounted them at my ol Mans and threw em on. It needs to obviously come down a bit, but it is starting to get the look.

  4. looking good. You're tall enough that you can actually get in that thing at that height. I'd need a running start or a ladder. ;)

That's going to be a nice little hot rod when you get it done. I'll be following along to see how it goes together.

    Congrats on the wedding..

I was lucky enough to have a friend lend me his Packard on our wedding day twenty two years ago and it really made the day even more memorable..

What happened to the Lincoln trans? Not using it here? What gearing are your running out back? I kinda wished I would have saved my 3.54 for my 33 instead of using them in my '35.

More importantly the car looks so damn rad and I'm stoked those tires worked out for ya. They're perfect for this first "version" of the car. And just about the time you're going to need new ones I bet you'll be ready for the fenders and whitewalls. So stoked for you Chris!!!

Is that how high mines going to sit? Geesh, as much as I love it, I think a eye reversal and leaf removal for mine is in order. We'll see...

  9. I dunno were that trans will end up...either in this car or the 41 vert. I would like to find a set or 3.54's for this thing. That, along with the power and weight will probably move it down the road.

Yeah I found the NOS set of 3.54's at an old Ford Shop. I wished I would have bought the two last ones because I know they're hard to find. I have a 3.78 sitting on the shelf I can use. As I told you I'm obsessed with the homemade Quickies, I might go that route if I can find a nice one cheap.

Dang. You guys are making me feel uneasy about finding 3.54s for my A.

They're out there (especially if you have a horseshoe up your ass like Chris) I just had an unfortunate experience with rebuilding my first banjo with mismatched parts that by the time I did find the NOS set for $300 I was into the rear for over $700 by then so I racked up about $1200 total on a stock 3.54 Ford banjo. Stupid, but I learned my lesson.

If I found another set it would change a lot with my '33. I probably would ditch the T5 and go with another "78" case trans and cruise til my hearts content. I really don't need to do 80 as 65 is perfectly fine with me especially in an old car.

All right. I'll keep my eyes open. Thanks.

It's evident in the way he walks really. I'd deal with the discomfort if I had to chance to have his fleet so I don't blame him for leaving it there. :D

  15. You can buy 3.54's brand new, but they are like 750.00!!! I just have not been able to pony up.

Watch out buying the gears from Bob Drake, Toast had a heck of a time getting good gears that were cut correctly, BD sent him 3 different sets before he (toast) eventually had a local guy machine the gears to work correctly. BD told him to keeps the other sets, basically paper weights!!

I would bet they were all "Hecho en China"!

Are they the Getz ones? Because I heard those fit like shit and need machining. At $750 you're heading towards Quickie center-section territory which is why I (like you Chris) would rather scour the swaps for an original or a good deal on NOS ones.

I'm not sure JJ... I just know he was very very frustrated trying to get that rear back together!

I thought we agreed the color was called Wild Rose which happens to be in the salmon color family.....which is directly related to pink however it's NOT technically pink. :D

  24. I looked it up on a chart at the paint store with a chip off the wheel. The official name is "unicorn eye shaddow magenta"
