  1. Oh man, I want a chromed axle bad but just can't swing that kind of cash right now. I missed a nice plated 4" axle on Ebay, it was beautiful and sold for 600.00!!! I don't think I could have one plated for that (local at least) plus the cost of the axle to begin with...

I'll take one with me and get a quote.

  3. What/where is Chehalis?

  4. Yeah, that car is perfect!!!

  5. Chris, I could check for you up here about chrome. I have a friend in the biz. When I was doing Motor Speedway, I was going to set up a parts trailer and make a chrome shop too. I was going to do the whole velvet with chrome all over it. Bagged working with them, so it never happened. My friend was going to do all the chrome for free. Let me see what he'll charge for an axle. Could work!

  6. Between Seattle and Portland...were Billetproof NW is held

  7. COOL! Yeah, lemme know! My axle is really nice, not pitted at all. And I am not worried about having the recess in the axle polished, just the top/bottom and the outter edges.

    Thanks Mel!

  8. Ah. Thanks Chris!

Sure do like those thumb screw clamps... Build's coming together great!

  9. I got a whole slew of those clamps at the Monroe swap meet a few years back. I bought a bag full...now wish I had bought all of em!!

  10. You always end up kicking yourself after the fact. Well, at least I do. :D

And thanks to you, I now have another need/want part that I'll have to track down before I'm happy. I think those little things are pretty rad... You were absolutely right, it's the little parts that help to make an awesome build!

  11. Well tonight I did a lot more cleaning and such. I also baked those headers...had to wait til Jamie went out of town ;) Followed the directions and everything went smooth...house don't even stink that bad! Let em cool and bolted em on. These are the Bob Drake $98.99 headers...I gotta say, they fit EXCELLENT and for the money I dunno how you can go wrong!

I got married and nothing changed really except I had a home to take care of. Then we had our son and I got more work done on my car then I ever had so don't let them scare ya. However most of that work is now done when Memphis is sleeping and my weekends are kinda spent with the family but by the time you get married, you'll have 3 cars to pick from so only maintenance is going to be on your menu.

Send it off to JetHot...cheaper than chrome but lasts and looks great. When JetHot was here in Missisippi I took mine down to them and had it "chromed" for a little over $100. That was 8 years ago and it still looks like new.

  16. Thanks for the warnings guys...but I'm not that scared :D I bought a house when I was 20 and have had a mortage for the last 10 years so thats nothing new. As far as kids go- I know they take a ton of time and money, however I have a lot of friends with kids who are into cars and it hasn't killed them yet ;) Heck, my Dad managed to do it while raising 3 kids!

These are all me and my Dad

Dude that pic of you and your dad is killing me. You dad was and still is the man!

  21. Just so you all know, I was busting his balls! I'm just glad he likes woman, unlike his brother!

Being a father is the greatest job I have ever had! My boy rules.

Ok Chris, I'm on your thread to much I guess. I'm having dreams bout you and your pops. Your dad was handing me a old metal box and something all rolled up fell out. That was weird. Must have been that groovy late 70's pic.

You bite your tongue while talking about my life partner.

  23. Didn't get much done tonight, my adapter for the distributor showed up so I got that done and the wires all made.

Side note- my 41 convertible has been running like garbage lately. It has a rebuilt distributor on it I got from Bubba's so I was gonna rob it for the 34 and put a good used one on the convertible. When I started taking it off, I noticed one of the clips that holds the cap on was popped free. Once I got the distributor off I noticed the brass tip on the rotor had jammed and spun 90 degrees (so instead of pointing strait out, it points strait down) and in doing do busted the rotor all up. I have no idea how it was even still running, shit I drove it to work a couple days ago! It was just running crummy but nothing horrible. glad I found that little problem...

  24. Well, another measly update...I had to work today but had an hour or so after work to screw with it before Jamie got home. I had a 3 brush generator converted to 12V a couple years ago and have not had a chance to use it until now. It was rewired with plastic wire, so tonight I changed it to cloth wire and started mapping out the wires up to the firewall. I have to get some 90 degree wire ends, then it should be all done.

    THAT looks excellent ......Chris!

  26. Another day of only getting an hour or so of work done. I did finish up the wiring except for the coil...simply because I do not have one yet. I am on the look out for an old unique looking 12V coil.

One thing I have learned, wiring can be really run!!!

  29. Time to pull the valve covers! I really have no idea what I'm doing on wiring, I'm definetly no pro!

I'll be at the early bird for sure, I CANNOT wait! Hoping to score things like a vintage coil, neat hose clamps for the radiator, etc

  30. Yep, we had them off... But it was late .. I now have it in the shop...
Hope it's not major ? I will be hitting Corvette & Hi-Performance and Early Bird back to back... Looking for some SBC stuff if I needed it and trinkets for the 35, looking for a O.G. windshield regulator...have a repop..but would like the real deal.. keep the updates coming buddy.:D
