That was a nice find, maybe it has wheel adaptors on the front.

Great truck... Bought my first vehicle ever at age 14 and it was a 55 Effie. Sold it, then bought it back, then sold it again over the last 30 plus years. Miss it a LOT!

Nice one bro! I'm sure it will be sick when ur done. I would recommend a new build thread with a "catchy build thread ***le" I did that and got flamed, lol but it also garnered interest. You won't get the flaming as u are a known HAMB en***y. Good luck with the build, buy a nice camera and post them pics playa!

Peace and much love from KY!

Thanks again guys. Wheel adapters are a possibility. I haven't even seen the truck today as I've been busier than hell trying to get things done so I can leave for GNRS in the morning.

Whiskey, always good to hear from you man! I have a great Nikon DSLR that will be used extensively on this project. And I'm in no way above being flamed!

I'm at the GNRS, so I won't be back to the truck for a few days. I'll post some pics soon, I promise.

Okay, finally shot a few pics today. Taking a closer look at things today (I really haven't looked at it at all since I drove it home last week) it's not in quite as nice shape as I first said. Both cab corners need more work than I expected but no big deal.

I was thinking the same thing....and were both from Washington.....that truck wouldn't be as good of a deal up here. I know of a one in a little better condition for the same money....with a ***le. But we've got lot's Joe Dirts up here that collect those sort of things. either way it doesn't matter. If you're happy with it that's all that counts.

Yep, I'm still happy. Funny how the same truck in different parts of the country bring such different prices. With the introduction of this here internet thing you'd think all the prices would have evened out, LOL.

The ***le thing is already solved. Took the VIN check to the DMV was presented with 8 pieces of paper to fill out. Got those done, took them back along with the safety inspection certificate and got the plates.

So, anyone have an opinion on the front brakes/axle/5 on 4 1/2" mystery?

It all looks stock F100 to me, but I'm certainly no expert. My '27 T roadster had the drums re-drilled, so maybe this has too. I still haven't had a spare minute to even pull a wheel to look.

You couldn't buy a non-running shell around these parts for that price. VERY well done

I bought a 55 F100 ch***is that someone had bolted Fairlane front backing plates and brakes to. Check the backing plate/spindle interface-mine were really poorly attached. They had been running them for years, but I wouln't have run them around the block. Great score for $1500.

Update time. The night I brought it home my dad wanted to take it for a ride. When he came back he announced he had no brakes, the pedal was on the floor. I don't remember if I had already posted that before.

So I've been busier than hell lately and just yesterday actually had a chance to work on the truck. First, checked the firewall mounted master cylinder...

Low on fluid, so I filled it up and had my dad pump the pedal while I bled the drums. Felt pretty good, and the brakes now held the truck while in gear so we decided to go for a ride... to the end of the driveway before the pedal when to the floor again. Put the truck back in it's parking spot and figured we'll order the parts for a full brake rebuild, including a stock MC and pedal ***embly, as hanging pedal/MC ***embly is so Mickey Moused it's got to go.

Decided to pull the plugs and do a compression test. All the plugs were a little heavy on carbon, but none were fouled and all were gapped correctly. Compression test on all eight cylinders was 105 to 115 so we know we have a decent motor, although it's not likely going to win any races. The motor is a '62 Galaxie motor, numbers indicate it's 4bbl, and I think that it was rated around 275 horse or so. It'll pull the truck around just fine.

I pulled the cap and couldn't get the rotor loose, like it had glued on! The PO apparently and some kind of trouble getting it on there as the balance tab was broken off and NOT inside the distributor. Finally got it loose with two screwdrivers (non-alcoholic) and a pair of pliers.

Going to stop by today and get a cap, rotor, wires and plugs. I checked the points, they look great but we'll still adjust them when we put it all back together later this week.

Oh, forgot to mention that I pulled the front wheels and YES the front drums have been re-drilled to 5 on 4 1/2". I still haven't pulled the back wheels, but I'll let you all know what I find when I do.

No, because I'm fixing all the broken **** instead of driving it and endangering the lives of my self, my family, and all others in my way. If I just kept driving it as-is it would be a rat rod, LOL.

I think my wife is going to take this truck over as soon as its road worthy, and I don't mind at all... she's my hot rod girl!

Going to fix the cab corners, do mild body work (nothing custom), squirt it flat something (insert favorite color here), paint the grille and some steelies a nice contrasting color and go cruising. The plan to flip it may have changed, and the wife's under construction '48 Chevy may be up for sale soon!

Update time. Sheesh, I can't believe its been this long!

I ended up going COMPLETELY through the brakes: master cylinder, lines, hoses, cylinders, springs shoes and drums. The front end is all stock (just redrilled to 5 on 4 1/2) and the rear end is '68-72 Ford full-size car. The truck sat dormant for the better part of the summer while I collected parts and taught myself how drums work. I don't work/learn that slow, its just been a busy year!

Got the brakes all done and the truck ran like ****.... But stopped good. Brought it home on a rope three times!

Thanks to the HAMB I figured out my carburetor problem. Fixed that and the ignition switch wouldn't work! Finally fixed the ignition switch and took the wife cruising this morning. Good times! We got back home and she says, "Hey, we smell like old car gas and oil just like when we'd cruise in the Model A. I miss that car!"

    Yep, she's a keeper. :)

The saga shall continue. Next up? Identify the power steering and fix the leaks.
