Saw you on Overhaulin last night, I was cracking up at everyone's PO'd faces when they saw that rusty pile of Buick... lmao. Nice work though.

Back to the "theme rods are gay" thread...

    Please do...

That is pretty funny in itself, but I am a detail freak.

    Thanks,

Negative Ghostrdr, that pattern is full.

Actually it's a shark, first used on Kittyhawk Is by British units in north Africa and quickly emulated by the American Volunteer Group in China.

Also, the car isn't quite done yet. ;) Man I like that thing. I want Foose to Overhaul my old car by just replacing it with that...

    Kevin -

Not sayin' you're boring or stale, man...At the same time, just what, exactly is a 'cool old hot rod? Where do you draw the line?

The design elements on this car are what 'get' it for me; the shorty exhaust stacks, the big wires, the OD interior, the bomber seats and that incredibly well integrated Lincoln Zephyr dash. A lot of the cool old hot rods I've looked at over the years are missing an element or two which leaves a hole in the execution - like a good dash. FWIW, I find I spend a lot more time in my car than I do outside lookin' at it, so that 'stuff' is real important.

Way I see it - this is an excellent cool old hot rod with a single controversial design element tossed in the mix to generate interest. After all - would we have expended this much energy talkin' about its detail if a Deuce grille shell was hung on the nose?

Personally - I'm not all that fond of the cone - but it serves its purpose.

That doesn't necesssrily make it a good thing. Chip certainly does first class work, and he sure seems like a great guy. But a lot of what he does, I don't care for. Especially those two-tone paint jobs. Not to change the subject, but if someone did an Overhaulin' job on one of my cars, I'd be suing a whole lot of people.

This might be a dumb question, I'm not trained, but I thought the reason you even chrome-plated something (besides looks) was to protect the nickle plating. That it would otherwise tarnish and lose it's look.

Then again, maybe it will look even better in a year...

I'm completely with you on that! I've told my wife and kids DON'T EVER volunteer one of my cars for that show - it would be the first episode where the mark yells, 'what the***** did you do to my car!'

That bein' said - I really, really like this one, prolly because it's so far off of what we normally see.

What were you doing all this time? :)

The only thing about that car I really don't like is that abortion of a shifter...

Other than that it would be nice to see a shell that had a smaller opening under the nosecone like a p51 but that's just me... I like the car a lot. I wouldn't have built it but I like it a lot.
