I'm rather new here and I've been too quick; and at my age, quick isn't a word used much, to jump in and criticze. Today is so far removed from the '50s and I tend to sometimes reach back without balancing then with now. So enjoy whatever type, style car your working with. After all we're not all Clapton fans. My real intent here was to try and share some history. I've gone at it in the wrong way. So I'll shutup, untill I can be constructive. Carlos, Louvers or what ever you wish to call me and I've been called just about everthing !
I'm only 30 and I think Clapton's been steadily going downhill since the Yardbirds. He was great in the Yardbirds, but someone needs to send that guy out for a pint when it's time to write songs and lyrics...
we all have been guilty of saying the wrong thing sometimes. i don't always agree with everyone either why don't you do some tech on what you are doing and how you do it? nothing creates more interest and positive comments than tech posts with lots of pictures. give us the benefit of your years of experience...SHOW us how it was done "back in the days" for the record , i am a clapton fan
I, too, would love to know how it was done in the old days, I think that's what most of us were about. Incidentally, I looked at your posts, and don't have issues with any that I saw. A lot of people are babies about what's posted and so forth, though, so just because you had one or two people get pissy doesn't make that majority opinion. You can't make an omelette without breaking a few eggs...
I saw David Lee Roth on TV the other night and the poor sop's stage moves look like "old man still trying to dance", in fact I was thinking David's gone and turned into Neil Diamond! louvers, I'd write it off to being an"old man" in your case but your only 12 years older than me so I'm not giving you a break. Pipe down untill you've gone done to the bottom of the page to where it says "New thread 1 through 2197 and click on last. start with thread 2197 and start reading. and please don't bring any of that old shit back to the front by responding to it, just read it. And remember, the first three or four years of this HAMB isn't even there. You'll find every single controvery like billet wheels and rust and shiny paint and flat paint and DrJ all suck has been posted dozens of times each already. You won't read all of them.... but you'll learn that the best way to contribute here is to post answers to hotrod building questions when you know how to do stuff, or to ask questions of how to do stuff on your own cars if there's something you don't know how to do. An occasional true story from an old fart who was really there is always welcome, but a story about what was right back then, not about how right or wrong anyone's playing their own dream hobby now. After all, that's all this is any more, a little, not very important in the grander scheme of things, living out a dream HOBBY.
Not to worry Louvers...life is one big long learning experience...and some guys think they know everything already...but learning computer-speak, internet chat rooms, and the HAMB is an all new learning experience...it just takes some longer than others... Stick around and contribute some of that 70 years of experience...I for one can learn a lot from you, even tho I'm just 8 years younger than you... R-
Carlos, Good to have you aboard, I almost chimmed in on the tin thing then thought better it,....... then I was getting steemed and when I went to reply the thread was locked ( a really good thing ). everybody on here dosen't have to agree on everything,...... just be in the "Brotherhood of Traditional Hot Rods". ( kind'a like Jedi Knight's without the light sabers )
I know a couple of guys who are getting ready to join the HAMB...I'm just gonna send 'em this thread. Well said. Bryan
