For all those thinking of entering the extreme autorama

Discussion in 'The Hokey Ass Message Board' started by Starliner, Jan 14, 2005.

  1. As many of you know, the deadline for entries is Jan. 30. They haven't recieved very many so far and if they don't recieve anymore this part of will not happen at all. I think this is something that would really be cool and we could do a lot with.

Thats really too Chris. I sure hope they don't have to kill it over lack of interest. Does anybody have a hot link to register?

Roadstar informed me of this and it sadden me. It's a shame with so many cool cars on this forum that more folks aren't making an effort to bring their cars. It sure is a great way to help spread the gospel of traditional hot rod and customs.

  4. I know I spoke badly of carshows when this came up the first time, but Denise is right.I still stand by my opinion that they are egofests but, if we dont try to educate the Lemmings, the ratrod word will never be shot down! [IMG]

For the record (eating crow on this one) my boss wants my car in our shop display at our shown at the end of Feb [IMG]

  6. Hell, I get PAID to go to ours, and the beer starts flowing around 7 Saturday night! [IMG]

I do admit, the real reason I am putting the Touring in is to do a nasty burnout Sunday afternoon during move out [IMG]

If this doesn't happen I'm going to be seriously pissed. Especially since all of the **** that was posted about it when it first came up.. An opportunity like this doesn't come along very often and it's a kick in the balls to anyone who put out the effort to make it happen.
As some of you know I just got out of the hospital and I seriously don't think I can get a car there, even if it's just displayed the way I drive it.
One thing for sure, if it doesn't happen I don't want to ever hear of anyone on this board complain about our kind of cars not getting any recognition. It just doesn't get any better than the Autorama in the middle of the winter.

I have plans of entering but was waiting to make sure my car is "ready". It looks like most everything will be finished in time. Do you think one more entry will make a difference? I'm ***uming they will return our enter fee if it doesn't happen.
Denise, do you still want this to go to you?

Donzie, Send her the money. If it doesn't happen and you don't get your money back I'll make it good. Damn, I've got to stop thinking about this. I thought that they"d have been swamped with entries. What's the matter with people? Wait, I think I know, it's more fashionable (and easier) to lend lip service, than to actually DO something.

Another thought. Doe anyone know how to contact all of the entries that were at Billetproof in Detroit? That would be a show in itself. Mrg***er, how about you lighting a fire under the people you know?

i would love to take the 53 down there, but i don't know what kind of shape it will be in by then...do cars need to be finished?? or are in-progress cars allowed? what are the limitations?? what qualifies it as extreme...i mean, the 53 is lowered, shaved, probably in primer, and otherwise pretty boring all things considered...would that meet the criteria for the autorama exhibit?? if so i may have to have a thrash and take it down there...

**** Frank, I've got a 55 chevy that was drag raced in the 60's and 70's, it's got a dead BBC in it right now. It looks like it was painted with latex house paint and it has a stick welded roll cage...Let me borrow one of your motors, build me some headers, and lemme do the brakes and wiring, and I'll enter that! [IMG]

  14. ****, this better happen. My bud and I are planning on driving 4.5 hours to detroit (and submitting to a rectal search at the Can/U.S. border) just to go to the ba*****t to see the "trad"/HAMB cars. Think I'd drive all that way for a peek at a Ridler contender? Wha'sis? Lack o' interest?? [IMG]

I was looking foward to this to. I think it can still be somethin great if people will show some more interest. Chris (Starliner) and Roadstar are the only HAMBers I know and this would be a great opportunity to meet more of you.

I would still LOVE to have my heap ready in time for this show...there ain't a more ratty rod to be found ANYWHERE, so it'd be a natural!!!

But, ****...it's easier to build a whole nuther CAR than it is to get a rear axle swap done...

...and I wanted a project car that I could actually DRIVE someday (what a concept!)...so I bought a little distraction of my own to sink money and time into, with the pay-off being that I should be able to get some seat time in this one!

Kritz, i seeno reason your car would'nt fit right in. there willbe -plaenty of "unfinished" cars there. thats kinda what these cars are about.

FuelPump, you've got two nice rides, are you entering at least one of them???

Fab32, what needs to be done to have the 32 sedan in ship shape for the show. you did'nt take it apart did you??

HRTH, so it does'nt run, make it look like it does and i'll help you push it in.

i'll PM Hotroddrummer and see if they will enter the shop truck. i see no reason we as a group could'nt make sure that this happens.

Jeeez, I leave for a few weeks and all Hell breaks loose. I am not sure who exactly gave you that bit of totally FALSE information, but be ***ured it is TOTAL BS! I am currently sitting here with 50+ entries IN HAND! We currently have people coming in from 6 differant states and Canada.

I have been on the road at the Cinci and the Grand Rapids AutoRamas and have had limited computer access, so I apologize for not responding to this post quicker.

Be ***ured...the entries and the commercial interest is right on target. I may be mistaken, but it looks like this may well be the largest INDOOR Traditional Rod gathering ever in the Midwest!

BTW; January 31 is NOT the "absolute" deadline for entries for the AutoRama Extreme. The entry fee goes up on Februray 1, but if we still have room, we will still accept entries until prolly two weeks before the show.

Thanks and Keep 'em comin! Questions? hit my cell 586-549-5291

  21. I was informed that this was brought up at the MHRA meeting last Sunday. I'm glad to hear it was false info. From what I was told, they said very few entries came in. Sorry for the confusion.

I also am glad to hear what was talked about at the MHRA meeting was incorrect.

FatHack, what do we need to do to convince Tim, (Flaw'd on the HAMB) that he needs to bring his "collection" of traditional rods to the show. Can we help him with transportation perhaps?? I'd certainly drive Donzie's old tub for him and someone could drive the shop truck and maybe we could get a truck and trailer for the other. I know he doesn't get on here to often so could you ask him.

He gets on here almost every night, Denise...he just doesn't post! [IMG]

I think we'd need a distraction along with a few HAMBers to drive his heaps to Cobo...we'll send DirtyT's girlfriend over to his house to keep him occupied while me, you and Rudy sneak his cars outta the garage...he'll never suspect a thing!!!

No Problem, Starliner. Let me just say this; perhaps some people don't quite share our enthusiasm for this event. (Nuff said) [IMG]
