For ALL You FNG's...How'd You Find The HAMB?

Discussion in 'The Hokey Ass Message Board' started by krooser, Jan 28, 2009.

  1. I stumbled upon it when doing a search for the Rumblers show last summer. I never lurked, just jumped right in. The information here is simply staggering and I'm never disappointed with what I learn.

I used to just read Ryan's stuff on Jalopy Journal and then discovered the HAMB. I don't remember exactly how I found it, probably just the usual surfing for good hotrod stuff. I definitely plan on staying.

I don't post much because 1), my car is a '64, so I think I'm on the cusp of anyone here giving a shit about it, and 2), I don't want to just post crap, if I have something useful to contribute, I will.

I'm on the lookout for a "HAMBy" car, but I'm not sure I want to sell my Buick. So, it may be a while.

I found this page off a story on NHRA.COM, they had a link to the drag racing pictures thread. I started checking out the rest of the forum and have been hooked.

  4. Got drunk one night and stumbled in and really liked what I saw and didn't want to leave. Oh shit that was the local whorehouse! Oh, you're talking about HAMB. I was a lurker for a long time and registered when the Hambandy build was on the go, and by the number of posts I guess I am still more of a lurker.

  5. Heard from friends , that there´s cool site called hamb and few years after that i read it first time and got hooked!

I have had hot rods (or street rods) over 10 years allready ,but this only
make world smaller and easier to reach , good job all oldtimers!

  6. Got bored and did some searching for Canadian Rod sites. I joined the Canadian Rodder site and someone had a link to HAMB in a post. Just like that I was hooked.

I have always loved the looks of 50's 60's 70's handbuilt hot rods and I am building my '48 Dodge Pickup in that style.

I have run into some dicks on here, but mostly good old motorheads with sage advice and great memories.

I am probably a lifer on here now.

  7. Doing a google search for information about identifying my front clip on my truck, seemed to be loads of info from people on the HAMB.

Came to the HAMB as a complete forum virgin, and fumbling round in the dark still;)

Found the website when searching for various engine parts, liked what I saw and stayed. Lurked for quite awhile reading tech articles and such before I joined.

The mighty Google sent me here to learn more about the style and type of Hot Rod I love. I got two kids who are old enough to occupy them selves, finally, and now it's my turn.

I had old Rusty Muscle Cars when I was a kid. I wanted a clean, simple build. I love the tech help HAMBers are so easy to provide and the encouragement of the enviroment. Not to mention it is a distraction from the MAN at work.

    Thanks for being there HAMBers

I saw the H.A.M.B. moniker in a rag somewhere and didn't know what it was. Several months later while doing a search for dropped axle info, the site came up. After several trips back for different tid-bits-o-info, I decided to join.

I did a web search for traditional hotrod trucks and found this place. Lurked for a while and finally joined. The info is great, the pics are excellent, and the people are solid. I love it.

I saw the HAMB mentioned in an article in Street Rodder, the article about ??? going to Austin but he didnt want to go alone so he met some people and one guy with an El Camino that had a 36(?) Ford body upside down on it and was late to start the trip.

  21. I found the HAMB by doing a search for the Texas Thaw pictures last year. I came back a few times and checked it out and was blown away. The amount of knowledge on here is insane. I decided to join (I am waiting to be able to afford the memebership, I know it isn't that much but I have two small children in daycare-read that cost more than my house and truck payment combined!!!!!) I love this place!!!!

I don't remember exactly how I found the HAMB, but at the time, I had a '64 Nova and lurked for a couple years on and off.I sold that car and went without for a year .When it was time to chance directions I truly found the HAMB and it's teachings .It ( you guys) inspired me to go back to my roots and found my '49 Fleetline .Even more important is the great people I have met since joining .You guys are the best !!! PAUL

  25. Thought I was sooo clever finding this, kept popping up as I searched seems it features all the stuff I love.
Told all my pals about it, they'd known for years!
Wastes far too much of my time though, so much to read.

I saw a television show where some funny lookin' guy was talking to an even funnier lookin' guy with this weird mustache about "Hamb". I went to the kitchen and made a sandwich, then I started lurking here, finally joined so I could do something more while I sit endlessly in this chair.

Was at a car club meeting telling a guy how I'd finally found a company that could reach my rural location with internet, and he asked if I had been on the HAMB yet? I said"never heard of it". So he told me all about it.
When I got home I looked it up and one of the first things I found was Rolf's coupe build, after reading that all, I knew I had found the place for me.
I had been planning to buy a glass 32 body for quite a while but after seeing some builds here I bought an A coupe thinking the technical help I may need is here.
