Stumbled across a YouTube video of a wicked little rod with a supercharged Packard 8 in it. I noticed the HAMB plaque on the dash & googled it. Glad I did.

I was visiting the Jalopy Journal before there even was a Hokey Ass Message Board. You used to be able to post pictures of your car, I was always proud to have pictures of my cars on the Jalopy Journal (41 Ford Sedan, 59 El Camino, 39 Ford PU) all very low with wide whites. So now that there is a HAMB it still seems to be the place to be. Just joined 2-16-09 so I could post about a local Great that passed on
Carl Zechbauer. Great guy and he chopped alot of tops. I'll stick around.

i joined this site about two years ago, i had heard about it through a lot of friends years before,i like this board cuz its organized, unlike osr,and ruffwrongers.theres a lot of topics id like to post on,but if i did,id probably get kicked off,so i keep my mouth shut.but when i see an interesting how to,or looking in the classifieds, i soak it up.besides,im in the garage working on cars ,more than im on the computer.filthy frank.

    Hi kroozer,

Johnny from Sweden here. I found out 'bout HAMB thru RaceArtist who I met thru Eaby (?). However, I'm into Super Stock & model cars and the model forum here will be a hangout as long as it lives or as long as I live :)

I've been into cars in general my whole life, but always ended up in the muscle car scene. After awhile i grew kinda tired of what i consider cookie cutter cars now. I really grew tired of the #'s matching, "my car is 1 of 3 with these options" crowd too. I played around with modern performance cars, which were fun for awhile, but i realized after awhile they have no character, no "soul" if you will. I've known about Jalopy Journal and HAMB for awhile, but never joined because i honestly didn't think i'd fit in due to never owning or building a traditional hot rod. Then i discovered this thread http://www.jalopyjournal.com/forum/showthread.php?t=228509 and i was hooked. I poked around and lurked and realized this was what i've been looking for for a long time. The pay it forward threads, the generosity, the relay threads, the lack of anything but cars. The amount of knowledge and the willingness to share it is unmatched. As soon as i'm back on me feet financially, i'm gonna build something traditional. In the meantime i'm gonna try and learn and live vicariously thru you guys.

I was askin a friend of mine(M&Srodz) about some tech issues and he said to check out thehamb.com, so I got on the tech boards and was thrilled with all the knowledge and helpful pics. Once I began searching the forums I decided to join, what better way to gather info and inspiration on hot rodding, than from a bunch of the guys who were around when it all started. (Yes, I'm calling you old farts...OLD)

    This place is great!

I know I did. Believe it or not, the format is a tad confusing at first. Luckily someone is always right there to point out that the FNG screwed up! Kinda like having 20,000 clones of my old man. We'll get it figured out sooner or later.
As for the older members,I dont know how it was before, but I know that thats why im on here. I want to learn from someone who has done it 100 times and knows all the ins and outs. Their knowledge is appreciated and their opinions are important.

I found the HAMB during google searches. I joined to take advantage of the technical information along with checking out the other builds. I probably won't be posting much, but I scan the site daily.

I found the HAMB years ago while killing time in the computer lab in college. This was back in the 'Kustoms by TSR' and Hot Rod Deluxe days. Lurked for years, then when I decided to go to the 1st Cinematic with some buddies I figured I better sign my butt up.
While I'm on the HAMB everyday, I rarely post anything unless I feel I really have something to contribute. So I'll probably be a FNG for awhile.

Damn, then I go and post this. So there goes that theory.

Well this post just made me a Newbie...Next stop Alliance Member!

Found it doing a search on nailhead buicks. My dad raced back in the 60's using only nailheads in St. Pete (where we are originally from). Buicks were the logical choice as our family owned Adcock Buick at that time. He got all of the long blocks at no charge. I have tons of slides that he took, and we are working on getting them converted over to digital. I thank my dad for my love of cars that started when I was just a little kid.

I found a link to the HAMB on the Stovebolt Page. There was a mention of Clark's trucks and I had to check it out. Been here ever since, I don't think theres a bigger wealth of info anywhere....

Stumbled onto it during the planning stage of my coupe. Lurked a while and really like the pics of Roundup that year. Got a lot of good parts leads from the knowledgeable ones (tks, Squirrel). We finished my coupe and took it to Roundup last year. Son and his family spend a lot of time in Austin, and came up for the day. Have pics of the littlest grand one standing in the seat of paw paw's hotrod honking the horn while one of my accomplices eggs him on. Older two grand ones were awed by all the neat cars. Building a Tudor with frame by Vaphead and a 331 Hemi.......

    Hopelessly Hooked.

  22. I first found this place a Looooooooong time ago when I was looking for some tech on how to put Buick 45 fin drums on Ford hubs. The I lost it, found it, lost it, found it. Frankly I was turned off by a lot of the drama people were slinging back then so I never hung around too long, just lurked a little and soaked up what I needed. Fast forward a few years and I'm at the Shades of the Past in P Forge and run into ratster so we sit and shoot the shit for a while and he asks me if I'm on the HAMB. Told him I lurked a little, he said I should join up so I did finally. Thanks buddy.

There's only a few guys into this stuff where I'm from and pretty much all of them are on here. I don't post much do to my lack of knowledge, but I'm still young and learning. I mostly search for parts and read threads that interest me. I don't post if I don't know what I'm talking about. Most of my knowledge runs in fabrication and welding. I'll be around for a while do to my addiction to old iron.
