My first car, a 64 2dr bonneville. 125 bucks with a couple push rods kicked out of place. Missed like ****, drove home, replaced 4 push rods and drove it thru h.s.

once a month I'd go to the park, pull valve covers, drive the rocker studs back down, reset valves and be done in an hour, drive like hell till they started clattering again and do it all again. Was always going to drill and pin the studs but working part time at a hamburger joint, going to school and spending money on beer and girls I never got around to it :p

Paid 15 dollars Drove it Home went to Stop for Something
and the Seat Track broak & I ended up in the Back Seat
I had to find something to hold up the Seat so I could drive it to my Garage

Best deal ever got- I was helping a friend finish up his 24 Dodge coupe, circa 1978, and the guy across the street wanders over, tugging on a beer. He's says hey you like those old Galaxies, right? I already had the 62 406 car by then, so I say yep. He says do you want another one? I'm getting divorced and have to sell mine and split the money with the wife- it's in the garage. So we head over, and it's a very clean 62 Sunliner ragtop, white with the red, white n black striped interior, 352 with power steering, all original. Can we get it running? He turns the key and it starts instantly, and burbles like a boat. OK, how much? He says, if you get it out of here before my wife gets back, $25. Took me about 3 minutes to pay him and get it around the corner out of sight. Had more fun in that car, it would easily accommodate 6 happy Daisy-Dukers on Cruise Night. Now I have this one- an XL Sunliner with the original 390-4V Croozer Twin.jpg

    $12.50, that's a cheap divorce!

  28. Dig deep and buy 'em both!
We used to get cars given to us from neighboring farms, so they would be dragged home behind the tractor, with 10 year old me at the wheel and my 16 year old bro at the wheel of the tractor. Tinker and fix, drive around as a paddock hack, when they "died", they would be dragged to the fence line, and stacked up to use for windbreaks.

My first one was a package deal, '34 5 window coupe and a '52 Mainline. Bought both for $25 and the engine from the '52 went in the '34. Junked the '52 and eventually sold the '34 for $500. Wish I had the foresight and kept it. I would like to see the one that "Runs".
