I've built 2 cars and one truck with the upper bars going towards the rear.

the last one had 9 inches of lift and no pinion angle change.

slamdpup, I have installed many a 2-link and it was my first intention with this car. But do to how much kick up was already in the frame and how much more notch I made( will lay frame on 28inch tall G78s) I got to much swing. And the car has a perimeter frame but also a full length X member so there for there is not enough room to make the lower links longer then they already are. I needed a set up that would keep the rearend as centered as possible at full travel so that is why I chose a 4 link. Then I realized that there is no way to run the uppers forward because they will be to far throught the floor under my back seat when the car is down. That is why I have decided to send them to the back. The gas tank is in the trunk floor so I have plenty of room. I am going to run a crossmember just in front of the back bumper and mount the back of the rear bars to it. As for pinion, like I said previously I already made a 1/1 model and get very little pinion change. Thanx, Dustin

Be interesting to see how you built radius arms that didn't move in a radius then?? Unless they were like 20 feet long? Got any pictures of this magical device?

No one ever said trailing upper bars wouldn't work, and I'm sitting here trying to think about how it could be done with LITTLE axle roll (I think it could be done with just a little, maybe not very noticeable, but I'm wondering about truly NO axle roll). It really depends on the length and mounting locations. Maybe a Z bar to the rear with a low mounting location would minimize roll... Would take some modeling to figure out.

The main point is the rear frame has to be strong enough, not just extending back to hold the trunk floor and bumper in place. Like the framework on the pic shown, obviously strong enough!

I'd think about "truck arms" (NASCAR type) suspension too, but I gather there isn't enough room under the vehicle to even go to the center of the X in the frame and still have the desired suspension travel. Hope the Z bars work out! Sure would like to see a pic when done, just to see how you solved the problem, especially after so much "discussion".

Hey, chill dude. I'm asking a sensible question here. No need for abuse and insults. What you so afraid of??

I'm just asking you to explain to us the mechanics of your 8" travel with no pinion angle change. Sounds like you've solved the main question of this post if you found a way to do it??

I just did some rough tests and an 18" link moving up 8" will pull the end back about 1". So you figure, the front link is doing the same at the bottom, pulling the axle lower forward a 1", what's the axle gonna do?

OK, you'll probably have your travel split 4" up, 4" down from your main suspension 'central' position, but that still gives a hell of a movement.
