For those who needs a roof skin for model A sedan...

Discussion in 'The Hokey Ass Message Board' started by clockwork31, Apr 10, 2012.

  1. I just finished the roof on my 31. I used the roof off of a 94 Cherokee( donated by my daughter) . I welded 3/4 x 3/4 tube to frame the old opening fos some strength. Sorry no pics yet.

I used an 83 LTD wagon roof in my 31 coupe. The 5 ribs & contour fit & looked great.
Cost 15 bucks at a local yard.

I hope this will work on a 28-29 sedan, cause I just bought one so that I can scalp the top.

It's a great use of available material. There is really no more cut-off date on the HAMB no matter what the old timers or the early HAMB years may say, use what makes it work now... dual chamber MCs, disc brakes, MII clips, roof inserts from late model vehicles.... that's what hot rodder do.
What was traditional in the 1960s is gone, we are the builders today and we determine what is traditional in the 2000s. Remember:

I really like the roof insert! It's always great seeing ingenuity put to work! Good job!

I like the idea of using something like it, but I think the square ribs really look out of place.

Yeah let's post on the site about "traditional hot rods and customs" just to piss them off. Grow the fuck up already.
