It's OK because it will be flat if you have to take it off on the side of the road. That's using your noggin.

2in blocks on mine require taking the bottom shock mount loose and lifting the opposite side of the axle. Not an easy feat but not impossible. I bet that extra inch would make it even more of a PITA.

I thought that was Caddy white on the VC and air cleaner.

Dragon Wagons -- if those black 5 spokes are on there I dont know if I would switch to the Astros. Either one would look sharp but I think those black wheels give it a bit more of a push-car drag race pit crew look from the early 60s as opposed to the early lowrider look. Either one looks great.

  6. That is a air cleaner from a 1962 Thunderbird that has the intake straight forward.
I think it looks cleaner, and will get cooler air from the pickle. :dunno:
Its going to get a little pinstriping to go with the E-400 that goes on the VC.

We'll see when I get the engine compartment assembled and detailed.

  7. The "Edseleros" are almost commonplace anymore, but I think that's the first Crew Cab I've seen!

TR ---- It looks alot like the one I have on my engine. Ford may have used them on alot of different things. I saw somewhere (maybe this thread?) all the steering wheels that got multiple uses.... maybe the FE series air cleaners did, too. Either way it looks really sharp sitting up there and I am glad you stayed away from the school bus colors, too.

  9. You do see that the "crew cab" Edselero is just a 4 dr wagon with the rear roof moved forward. Don't ya? Just a bit weird for me, but if you dig it, more power to ya!

  10. I have the OEM cleaner for the 332.
It's exactly like this one but the intake is on the side.
And yes there is a whole lot of Ford in these, only with a beautiful grille. ;)

    at idle, that klonk-klonk-klonk-klonk-klonk-klonk-klonk-klonk- noise
    is coming from liftervalley.

when I rise RPM to ca 1000-1200, sound goes away.

new ed(s)elbrock performer plus cam + lifters there, other valve train parts old.

I run engine without valve covers, all rockers getting oil good, gool oil pressure, noise is coming at center of lifter valley, from both sides.

The black Americans didn't come with the car, he needed them for another project, so all I have on right now is the ugly 14 stock wheels.

Check out the custom bullet lights on the blue "crew cab" I think I'll steal the taillight idea.

  14. OK...That one's a "thinker". Caught me a little off guard. But now, after lookng at your avatar I'd have to guess that's a reference to the green emblem in the center of your grille. :D A bit of Edsel owner humor there???

Not sayin' it's what I would have built myself, but I've seen much worse. And it's an Edsel so, you know, what's not to like!

  15. and when this wagon is painted green it will have a whole new meaning.

Maybe i should trade my new '59 Dealer plate for one that says "Vlasic"
    http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=YXiBgiFzKio&NR=1 ;)

I found the disk brakes this afternoon.

Finally, wheels adjustend after lowering. Aerostar and 3" blocks. Looks like I got it even low front and back. Lower in the front would have been a disaster... Its a little too low with the 195/75-14 ive got now, but with 6.70-15 I think it will be perfect. Runns great! Have to make a higher exhaust system.
