I will always wonder if Ron Capps just laid down for him to win that round....but again, who cares...it was fun to watch history being made.

Lot of people wonder if he laid down for Ashley to win her first national event. I didn't consider it until it was mentioned to me. There's a lot of $$$$ to be made, with the braggin rights of being the first woman F/C winner. Have you seen the auction for her towel that she was wearing after the race is going for on eGay? Check out their web site. There's a link to it. Ends today at 6, I believe. He didn't get where he's at today by being a "dumb truck driver". He's a marketing, promotional genius! Not to mention he's probably the best F/C driver ever.

I like John ,I don't think anyone will ever hit 1000 win mark again,
    What a work history ! ! ! ! ! !
AND all the **** that he and his crew and family have been through the last two years!
MAN what a strong and hardheaded dude............
    Give'em Hell John.

Thanks for mentioning it. I knew it was possible but hadn't heard the news yet.

Congrats to him. He is a great guy. I will never forget the first time I met him in Columbus. A sunny day, a little girl and her dad meeting a champ, a perfect memory to last a lifetime.

As for him or Capps laying down to allow a win, I don't think so! Racing is racing. I learned a long time ago whether you are racing a friend, an enemy or your dad you treat them all the same!

    Congrats John! :D

Ron Capps isn't going to lay down for anyone on another team.

And if John Force didn't win a round on that weekend,
you gotta know he will win again, sooner or later.

I think the racing "genius" is Austin Coil, because
Force never did anything until he hired Coil.

I was there! Capps didn't lay down from what I could see. I have a pic that I took just before half track. Awesome day at the races. Force is my hero after what he went through last year and back in the car for opening day. Un-fricking-beleivable. Way to go John!

  13. Capps laying down? Winning that round would have moved him from 13th in points to 4th. You think he laid down?

I've been a John fan for a long time, but c'mon mang!!!

Q - Did he lay down for Ashley?
A - Hell yes!!! He ran great all day then goes up in smoke at the hit of the throttle up against her? Nope, no doubt at all in my mind. He is a business man!!! It will always be known that Ashley was in a Mustang with Castrol all over it!! Think of the pictures, the posters, the diecasts, the hats, shirts, blah, blah, blah to be sold!!! Big BIG BIG $$$$ to be made! the Sponsors love it! The fans love it! And most of alll... NHRA loves it!! Have you not noticed she and her 'ol man are basically the royal family of drag racing?? Forget Connie and his kids, forget Warren, forget Bernstein, forget Glidden, forget the 2007 FUNNY CAR CHAMP!!! The Forces are big money and ya gotta stoke the fire. He is NOT an idiot!!

    Q - Capps lay down?
A - Never! He is friends with John, not family. He had nothing to gain from losing to him AND he is with a new sponsor this year that he hasn't done **** for!!! He's behind the 8 ball, needs to get that new sponsor some TV time and wants to be champ more than anything.

And "probably the best F/C driver ever"... Yer kidding right? "Probably"??? Ummm... yeah, I guess he's "probably" ok at this whole funny car thing.

If they paid more money to run second,

It's not a conspiracy man... it's simple business. Dollars rule a business. Emotions rule your family. When the two come together and a postive outcome is available... Well, think about it...

Lemme ask ya this... If you are the best at what you do and you've been doing it for a long, long time then yer kid comes along (that you have been grooming to take over) and has a chance to make HISTORY against you... What would you do? If you say win, yer either a liar or have no emotion what-so-ever for your offspring. There are so many factors that came into play for that one round of racing, if you really, honestly weight the situtaion out... you will see it as clear as day.

As a side note : I'm pretty sure Ashley knows it too. Hell, she knew it before she even got in that car. Didja see the between round action that NHRA showed? Lemme set it up for ya... John is sittin on his scooter and Laurie is with him, Ashley walks by them and goes to her van, grabs some water or something and starts to walk back. John says something like "Are ya ready?" and she just says "yeah" and keeps walking. Later Laurie says on camera that John can get 1000 next week on his B-day. Then after she has won Ashley doesn't smile much but gives a good interveiw then when others are jumpin around and happy and throwing Powerade on her she has no smiles at all. At the same time all that is going down John is walkin around by himself and not his "normal Ashley-won" emotional self. He laid down and he wasn't happy about it. Ashley knew he laid down and she didn't really "win". BUT... She got the points, she got the milestone of being first woman and everyone loves it.

Well, good for ol' Force! But, does NHRA's TV people even know that other racers show up at the track? Absolutely, the worst coverage in any kind of motor sport.

But God Bless John. Ol' Uncle Gene Beaver (LA ****** F/C) did teach him well, huh?

  23. TV companies aren't interested in anything less than the rolling billboards that are the big guys...

And who wants to see a pair of mid 10 sec cars compared to a pair of 330mph nitro belching, tire smoking monsters?

It takes a lot of balls to authoritatively declare that a fourteen time champion just let it go...... unless, of course, you are on the internet. Then you get to express your opinion with absolute certainty despite the fact that you have no actual evidence. By the way, did anyone else go up in smoke at the hit in that lane?

John Force is the real deal.

I put in the second post on this thread. During lunch today, I watched the run again without the emotion of " It's History". I could not have been more wrong. It was a real close race...and I agree that John Force is the man...and as far as my laying down comment, Robert Hight even mentioned that his wife ( John's daughter) asked him to let the old man win be said No Way !!
As for Capps, he is the next John Force type hero / champion

  27. Amen.......

It was a close race, and I have to agree, Ron is the future.
