I have a 59 F100. 223 I6 with the load-o-matic distributor. I have the timing set to specification. 4° BTDC. At idle with the vacuum advance line disconnected. The problem is when I go to plug the vac line in the advance kicks in right away. I have replaced the distributor and it still does it. I'm thinking its a carb issue. But I could be wrong. The carb is a Holley glass bowl. 1904 or 1908 I don't really know which. Any suggestions would be great!

Do you have the advance hooked up to venturi vacuum or manifold vacuum? There is a vacuum port on the side of the carb where it should thread in.
Might I also add that when I attempted to drive it. It wouldn't accelerate whatsoever. Once I engaged the clutch it just bogged and died.
How about some background on your truck. Is this a new build or has it been running good in the past ?
it was running good in the past, except for leaking oil everywhere. It blew the rear main seal. So i replaced it and most every gasket in the motor. its got a new starter, distributor, fresh gaskets and fluids. The gas does have sta-bil in it because it sat for a few months.
I'll be willing to bet it's the pcv . Go through the pcv System. I had very similar problems when I first got my truck. Same truck same motor
That engine has a downdraft tube not a pcv, doesn't it? Sounds like you're pulling vacuum from the wrong spot, but if I recall, the vacuum line is a hard line from the carb to the dizzy. I could be wrong. Try plugging the vacuum line and see if it will at least drive. Keep us posted.
