ford 223 Trans?

    What transmissions will bolt up to a ford 223? I have the 3 speed but im sure there are other ones that will work.

    With this adapter you can put a T-5 from a Mustang in there http://www.ford-y-block.com/truckt5.htm

    Also various 4 speeds of the era will work, not sure on the specifics maybe someone more knowledgeable can chime in. The basics is that the 223 does not share a bolt pattern with anything else, however the bell housing bolt pattern should fit a more common trans. Caveat, you won't get lower rpm's on the freeway as top gear on 3 speeds and 4 speeds is direct or course you will get a better spread of gears which helps alot in town.

    There is a "granny Box" 4 speed that came in pickups, Top loader style...
