I've got a chance to buy a ford inline 6 out of a boat. I believe its a 240. Aluminum head and fuel injection. I don't know if its reverse rotation or not. Would it be worth investing in?

If you want a potentially good running 6 cylinder, sure. If it is reverse rotation, it can be changed with a camshaft, starter, etc. The fuel injection and aluminum head sounds interesting.

i'd be in it just for the aluminum head. if the price is right, go for it.

Ford never made any aluminum 240 or 300 aluminum heads. Please post pics of this engine. I don't think it's a Ford engine.

Sure its a Ford? Never heard of a factory made production type head for A 240 or 300 [except for one and it maybe billet] so maybe its an Aussie six as they did/do some evolution and have some runners with OHC and twin turbos and over 400hp if I remember right...Can you make a pic? Sounds interesting..

No it would not be worth investing in. There are better investments.

I would like to see some pics of that motor and the 240 is a decent motor, had a 66 240 in a 77 F150 and really liked the motor as it seemed to rev quickly and got decent gas mileage. It was removed due to a crack in the block from the PO letting it freeze but drove it for two years.

Could be if the boat had twin screws.

  14. That thing seems to run pretty damn good. Dude should even need a car to ride it around the garage. Lol

  17. Or you could just turn the rear end upside down. :D

I would invest in it just because it is an oddity and it should have good potential, a boat motor usually wants a cam change anyway, they don't fare well on the street, power band too narrow and low.
