I can't answer your question, I thought yblocks were internally balanced - no outside weights. The weight and the drill holes may have been to balance it to a neutral balance. Put your question on some of the yblock sites if no one here can answer it.

1954 Cleveland blocks (used in cars only) 239/256 were internal, all 272/292/312 are external.
Im not positive about all 239/256 Dearborn built truck blocks but my old 54 239 and a friends 55 F600 256 were external.

I noticed that you found Y blocks forever. Did you know that there is a Yahoo group for the Y blocks?

Problem with the balancer is that they are 2 piece with rubber molded between them.
After 40+ years the adhesive or whatever they use lets go and the sections rotate at different rates; makes timing fun.
They can be rebuilt for around $80 if you cant find a good one.

Kart...I noticed today that there is a balancer on Ebay right now, I think it was for a 1963. Not sure what you need or if it will work. Just do a search for "Ford Y block."
