I have a I think a mid 80s 302 ford motor and trying to see if it is reverse rotation or clock wise. According to the block number 84 85 year model. It didn't have any pulleys when I bought it. I knon later models went to Serpentine Belts. I did notice when I went to prime the motor the oil pump did pump in reverse rotation. Any help would be great. Thanks George
Are you trying to figure out if the water pump should be reverse rotation? Depending on the timing cover, iirc some covers can use std. or reverse pumps, you have to use the correct pullies and belt setup accordingly. Unless that motor came out of a twin engine boat it would not be a reverse rotating engine. Sent from my Moto G Play using The H.A.M.B. mobile app
Same as all other Winsdors, counterclockwise for the oil pump. You can usually tell which way the distributor/oil pump turn is by looking at the gear on the cam. It will rotate 'down' where it contacts the distributor gear. Look at the angle of the teeth and this will show you which way the distributor will rotate.
