Bought as a NOS 1966 H&M Nascar crate engine in 1991. Sadly the rest of the car, a 63 1/2 Galaxie does NOT do the engine any justice whatsoever :eek::eek:

Not sure if this has been posted before, but here is the Pete ROBINSON (not Jackson) designed gear drive for SOHC FoRds, complete with idler on the left side cam to eliminate the L&R camshaft deal. It has always been my understanding that George Montgomery had a hand in this also. SOHC-gear-drive.jpg

I wished Ford would have installed this engine in a 67-68 Mustang, much like the 68 Hemi Darts and Barracuda's. Produce 50 of them to keep the NHRA minimum to be legal for super stock.
Who knows, the SS/AH class today may look a little different.

Or they could have installed them in the new for '66 Falcon. That would have been different.

H&M installed a SOHC in a black OT 66 Fairlane 500 HT, I believe I posted a photo earlier as there are two (2) H&M decals on the underside of the hood? FEs were a bolt in so H&M scalloped the spring towers similar to later KK Boss 429 Mustangs to fit the SOHC heads and exhaust.

Apologies if these were posted previously

The blue 67 Fairlane is a beautiful car, sort of setup like stock car. Not positive but I think that's the one featured on Jay Leno's garage.

I thought the SOHC package would fit on any 427 side oiler block...If you had that block you could add on the SOHC package and have one...

There's a lot more interest in them now with a variety of NOS and aftermarket parts being available; complete engines, blocks, heads etc by Dove, Pond, Cushman and H&M.
They were over the counter item and not installed in regular production line cars
