Ok, so i've got an 31-spline Ford rear. It's an C7AW-E unit with Traction Loc. Problem is that my pinion pilot bearing is way smaller than usual...saved everything when i took it apart EXCEPT that pilot bearing and retainer. Don't ask me why.... :/ Took it apart for restoring and gearing swap, and everything else in the Richmond kit is ok, except that pilot bearing and retainer.... The one i got in the kit is 1.85" outer diameter which seem to be the "normal" size, but from what i can measure, i need a beraing that's 1.60" approx outer diameter. Inner diameter is the same (approx 1.15")... Looked everywhere for what i need, but can't seem to find that smaller bearing or retainer.... Any ideas that could take me in the right direction??? /Stefan
I'm going to ask a Really Dumb*** Question and I hate to do it. But by any chance is the outer shell of the old Bearing still in the Hole. This is a Caged Bearing?
Pull the pinion back out, Pretty sure the bearing goes in from the front. Look's like the outer race is still in there.
