"It is a true close ratio trans. The casting #s HEH T Date code is aug 1964
I will be keeping this set up
    Thanks Ron"

Good choice especially with the close ratio transmission. Not sure on top loaders but Muncie close ratios have a 2.20 ratio first gear [as opposed to the wide ratio 2.56 first gear] which demands a low rear gear to get going. I'm sure the ford close ratio trans is similarly geared. That difference in 1st gears doesn't look like much on paper but it's really noticeable when driving the car.
If your driving needs change you cal always try a different gear later.

  2. UH that second stickin up thing in the pic with your finger in it is the vent.

A 4.5 gear is fine around town. If I was keeping it for hot dawg stand cruising I would leave the gear as it is.

WOW, i looked at that , it was clogged and painted over. I was able to put a small pin in the top.
I thought the hole would be larger like the one they sell, but i am sure that will work great. Thanks so much for pointing that out.

I have a '30 Coupe w 4.30 ge****t inna 9"....roller cammed small block, T350 trans w 3600 stall and manual valve body, tires are M/T ET Radials that are 29.5".....it flies...take it on the interstate, no. Run around the local towns and counties for rod runs and shows, oh yeah. You have the vent figured out, use a pipe threaded hose ****** like shown, or remove and drill out the one you got. KEEP the gear, especially w the tunnel ram....HOLD ON[emoji41]

  5. The Raven drove the T roadster 4 hours to MOKAN with a 4.56 gear in it. Granted cruising was only about 60-65 but it was a nice nite for a drive.

YES. I missed it when I went back to re-read the entire post and didn't look at the pictures. Old eyes:oops:. You will be fine with that and you can push a small diameter rubber hose like vacuum hose to raise it if you ever intend to drive through deep water;).
