I have a 1960's era Ford 9" with a Trac Lok. My project sat around for 10+ years before I finished it. My rear end would lock up and functioned fine before setting around. Now that I have the truck finished my Trac Lok will only spin 1 tire. I replaced the fluid and added the tube of fluid for posi's. nothing strange or out of place in the oil. Any ideas before a have to pull it all apart?

    .

first off, are you sure it was a trac loc?

Abusing a trac loc can cause them to get lazy within 40,000 miles (or less) - Abuse = constantly spinning tires on a corner which causes the one side to lift and that side will spin while the other side gains weight/traction and that's what wears the plates in the trac loc.

Find an empty parking lot, and drive it circles 5 or 6 times each direction.

Something might be stuck, and what do you have to lose?

My cure for limited slip diffs and wet brakes is the same. Drain, refill with diesel fuel, run it on stands or drive it slowly making some wide turns, drain it, refill with the proper fluid and drive it.
