I might have to pic up 3 ford 94 carbs for an intake. I talked to one guy at my normal swap today that specializes in flathead and y block carbs. I talked to him and he showed me a set which are matched and he said that the are good and unrebuilt he said he will garatue that the dont need a rebuilt. The price 250 dollars. Is this a goood price. Please tell me if it is or?

First make sure they'll fit the manifold, some only accept Stromberg 97's. You can grind the one bolt boss off the 94's, but they tend to leak enough already.

Do a google search for Rudolph Faltermeier in North Carolina. I picked up restored-rebuilt 94's from him for $160 each. These look like they came out of the box new.

$250 for 3 matched 94's that don't need rebuilding is a decent price. They go for around that. Good cores are usually $50 or $60 or more.

Check the free play on the throttle shafts. This is the main wear point on these carbs. It should be between .003" and .005". If you can move the shafts back and forth to produce a clicking sound, they're usually in need of rebushing at least. Still a pretty common carburetor, but demand is going up.

$250 each is crazy!!!!! Rebuildables can be bought at the swapmeets and ebay for cheap. $20-$50 for a good rebuildable carb.

Word on the street was that Vic Edelbrock Sr. was of the opinion that none of his intakes should be run with anything on 'em BUT a 97. Mockups I've done seem to validate this more often than not... :)

Rebuilding decent cores is not that hard. I usually don't go more than $30 for a good core (unless the thing is REALLY clean). Rebuilding them isn't all that hard, you just need kits and to verify you have the correct power valve and jets for your application. If these are already set up as a set of 3 and rebuilt, you have your work cut out for you. $250 for 3 rebuilt 94s isn't all that much, rebuilt 94s that I've seen normally don't go for less than about $90 each.

That guy is on drugs !! You can get some on ebay rebuilt , painted and NEW long shafts for $125-$150 .Where ever you go make sure the have the long shafts for the linkage and make sure the center carb have the power valve and choke , the other two don't need the chokes and some rebuilders take the power valve out and the mixture screws out and glue them shut ! The outer 2 carbs are just for dumping fuel down the intake Plus you don't have to try a set them up the same . Just your center carb does the idle and mixture settings . Take your time and buy all 3 from the same rebuilder if you aren't going to rebuild them your self . I have 3 - 94's on a Offenhauser and they fit great ! Hope some of this helps .
