I searched for an clues but wasn't successful in finding a straight answer.

Does anybody run a Ford 9N tractor radiator cap on their radiator or will one fit, say, a Model A or aftermarket radiator?

Obviously it would work with a 9N radiator, which I've heard of people running, but I'd like to know if the caps are specific to that type of radiator or not. Because I like them and they're easy to come by.

Interesting idea. How different are the 9N and the 8N caps?

$25 from Tractor Supply including shipping, which is enough to make me want to ask around first.

No idea, but that could consume/require a second cap purchase.

I'm not sure, but from what I've seen, they should both fit the same on 8N & 9N's:

This Tisco Radiator Cap is a reliable replacement part.
    • Ornamental type
    • 4 PSI pressure cap with wing finger lug
    • Ford Tractors: 9N, 2N, 8N (1939-1952)
    • 1 year limited warranty

Got my answer... Nope, Nope, Nope...

The thing is too big to look right and it's for a neck with an external flange. My A radiator is internal.

Now you have the cap, all you need is the tractor to go under it.

You have a normal cap riveted to the tractor shell. Drill out rivets, thread the holes. Get a **** repro '30-31 cap, pry the stainless shell off of the steel core, drill and screw that to tractor shell.

Oh I'd LOVE TO, but my 1/3rd of an acre just don't warrant it.

This is true, but the shell is a bit too big for the 31 grille shell. I can see it maybe working with a deeper shell or as a gas cap maybe though. It's a neat little detail piece though. They don't stamp many things that cool for that cheap anymore.

  13. Or, Epoxy it in place on the shell.
