Ford cast in it. Looks too big to be british. The shoes look like they are 2 1/2 wide.

Is the Ford name cast into the aluminum part, or the center hub? Could it be a Buick drum with a Ford center hub grafted on? Pic? Never hearda no loomnum Ford drums before.

Ford is cast into the loomnum. There's a lot of fins like the Buick 90 fin but are definately not Buick. I've got about 40 pair of Buicks :)

Allard made finned aluminum drums for the front and rear of pre '48 Fords as it was mostly Ford parts that they used for their drivelines, but the drums were not finned radially like a Buick they had fins like this....

Are they 11" diameter? I've heard there are some Lincoln drums like that - work with F100 brakes maybe? Memory fade sux...

I'd bet they are 11 inch drums & are Lincoln ---61 & 62 converts had them & all 63 's with AC. ( which should be about all of them)
Yup, they do work with F 100 brakes --- they have the same bearings as Buick drums . The adaptors that 29Rat made a while back put them on an early Ford spindle with no other mods.

I recently sent a complete F100 --Lincoln drum set to a rodder in Germany. Been looking for another set ever since .
Wanna sell the one you found??

I was sorta hoping nobody else would discover this . :D :D :D

I found an old Linclon with those drums a while back. I wish would have had the sense to figure out the conversion at the time. I'll have my eye out for a set from now on.

Keep in mind Lincolns in those years started with oversize drums.
    They started at 11 1/32" new.(maybe 3/32? ) 3/32 is .090 right?
    Ah ****t,oversize anyway!
I had to tell brake shops all the time,"put the drums back on,they aren't worn out"

OK , now I got me a set of the elusive lil ******s , along with the backing plates & stuff.
It appears that with a bit of work they (Backing plates-- the drums already do with 29 rats adaptors) could be made to fit a 37 -41 Ford spindle.
Now the question is would anybody want 11 X 3 1/2 inch brakes on the front of a hot rod. Three & a Half inch is a BIG shoe , perhaps on a fat fender Ford? I don't think you would want them on a light roadster or 28- 34 rod?

  24. The last of the drum brake t-birds (65?) had fins too, probably cuz the 61-65 Lincoln and the T-birds were somewhat related.
