Technical Ford Auto vibration 289-302-351 C4-C-6 others too

    There was a thread on a ‘64 Comet with a 289 C4 a while back with a vibration apparently in the engine/transmission.

    As far as I know it was unresolved.

    All the usual suspects were covered. Engine balance, damper, flex plate....stuff like that.

    Here’s two possibilities that I don’t remember being mentioned.

    Some torque converters have drain plugs. That’s what the larger holes are on the outer ring.
    It is very easy to install the plate in the wrong position contacting these plugs.

    There is also a reinforcing ring that bolts into the center.

    As far as I know, this was not mentioned.

    The dreaded small block Ford balance conundrum. Internal, external, 58 oz, gotta love your SBF issues. And that's IF your balancer isn't shifted on the axis.....
