  1. pretty sure this is an aftermarket but who's?
It at least 20 years old, probably more.
I got this in a pile of stuff and thought it was an older C E.( Ch***is engineering ) axle.

    It's 2-1/4" spring boss
36-1/2" spring perch to spring perch.
    48-1/4 king pin to KP

I'd say it is beings it has 2.25" perch pin boss's, 1932-1936 axles had 2" boss'. That looks like a 32 "heavy" to me

I though CE axles were short at 47" ? That's what's throwing me

Measured both my CE axles; both are 47" wide with 35" perch centers. Had an old Vintage Ch***is Works axle at one time, looked the same; ***umed it was a 47" axle but never measured it. I think I heard the the VCW axle was the predecessor to the CE axle.

ID wise, one CE axle has recessed initials on one side in the center, about where SuperBell has their logo; while the other is plain. The Vintage axle had the raised initials VCW in the web of the drop.

48" x 36-1/2" dimensions make me think Magnum.

No idea on how long SoCal has been doing the forged axles; but there was a thread on here
about the time they started marketing them concerning the overseas forging.

Anyway their 48" axle is easy to recognize since they have an even more elongated drop (oddly shaped IMHO) for steering arm clearance than the other aftermarket axles.
