Hot Rods Ford Banjo rear indentification

Discussion in 'The Hokey Ass Message Board' started by thebearded1!, Nov 5, 2018.

  1. Hello looking for some help in figuring out what year this rear end is. From what I've found through old threads would this be a 36 rear since it has 5 1/2" bolt pattern for the wheels, detachable wishbones and what looks like rod actuated brakes. Is this correct? photo should be attached. Any value in these? I also have the wishbones.

    Thanks!

  2. Wrong! From all that we can see it's Model A. If your building a Stock Model A and don't have one then it's worth something,,,, Maybe.

  3. P.S. All ford closed drive rear axles have removable wish bones.

Model A & T used spring over axle, the others are behind the axle. As noted by Pist-n-Broke it’s Model A.

  5. This is why I asked! I also didn't see any numbers stamped on the ridge toward the pinion indicating the gear ratio. Would photos of anything else help with the id? I found it under a wood trailer on a friends farm.

It's a 28 thru 31 Ford. Can't get any more identified than that unless it is a very early production 28, which would be rare.
