Man thats awesome! look the bars hold the kids in so they cant escape! way to get the youth to goto school.
i'm sure one of the v8 club guys is searching everywhere for one to restore. i wouldn't scrap it cause when was the last time you saw one of those rolling around?
You never did say where it was located. May make a difference in an offer if it is located in the U.P., the thumb or Travers City. I myself already have two vehicles waiting in line but those fenders look pretty solid to me. Wish my 47 PU fenders where that nice. Please don't let it go to the crushers.
You need to snag those fenders when you take the headlights.....actually, you need to snag everything you can off it. Any trim, steering wheel, gauges, folding door and mechanism, window frames, visors, etc etc etc.
Good news...grams is ready to sell...Ratster has first dibs, feel free to pm me in case he decides to pass...Bus is 10 miles west of Beaverton, MI. It'll take a large flat bed or trailer, some time to cut a path in the forest, and something to pull it out of the earth (remember the trans is frozen too)...
since i saw this thread ive been having nightmares about this bus being cut up with a sawzall, piled into a trailer and melted down to make more toyotas. thanks for talking gramms into selling it to car folk instead of scrap folk. now i can sleep easy tonight
Awesome news, thanks Aaron, thanks Grammy best news about a situation likes this in quite some time. Please keep us posted on the ole girl.... (the bus!) And Aaron, I'm probably not alone in wanting to know the tale of this thing ending up in the woods behind her house, was she a school bus driver (?) I doubt women were doing much of that type work before WWII. Thanks for the effort Howard
Hey Howard, She and Gramps used it as a vehicle to go camping in...He died 5 years ago, and I'm not sure where he came across it. They had 6 kids, so a bus must have filled the bill...Apparently, one day he just drove it out back and parked it for good!
Thank you. Somehow I just knew the story was as a cool as the vehicle. Maybe now there will be more ...... memories yet to happen !?! Howard
Anyone ever seen the Miller High Life Cruiser ?!?! While it may not exactly be a bus, it sure is cool. http://jalopnik.com/394514/the-miller-high-life-cruiser All the best-W.S.
If you cant sell it just strip the flathead and tranny, and fenders and light s , steering stuff . If it where closer id bye it . It will sell if you put it on e gay its going to take time to find somone who wants a toy or project like that . That bus would make a grate camper or flatbed , toy hauler.
If the rims are any good grab them, especially if they happen to be 22.5". Even if they are 20" with the outer snap ring they're still worth something as long as they're useable. The big truck guys are always looking for a good set of 5 lug wheels for the big trucks. They shouldn't be the "Widow Makers" tow part rims, Ford started putting them on their trucks in '48. From the picture it looks like they're in the ground which isn't good.
Aaron, You're close enough to Hershey- if your relative can wait (or you can find a spot to set it) until October, SOMEBODY there will buy it!
