The first picture would be a 1941-1947. Judging by where the "Ford" logo was (should be) on the fresh air vent. The second picture is I believe a 1938 judging by the grille and the hood ornament. 1939 Grilles had a chrome trim around the entire grille including a verticle chrome strip center of the grille. 1940 grilles had the chrome trim surround but not the verticle chrome trim piece. Also the 1938 hood ornament was just the "V8" where as the 1939 and 40 had wings under the "V8" logo. Im no "expert" but this is the info I have ac***ilated while reseaching my 1939 Ford Coe. Is that 1938 Coe for sale? Parting out??
thanks for your reply, i was thinking it was a 38 as well after doing a little more research on my own. no, its not for sale, not anymore anyways, i just bought them both. i plan on building the 38 this winter.
Unless the cabover's carried over you have a 38 & a 39. 40 - 47 uses a body mldg line with a dip in it. 38 - 39's have a ribbed body line. Also 38 - 39 's have the rib over the windshield, 40 - 47's dont. 39 was also the last year for a crank out windshield.
Did some more research. Evidently cabover's did carryover the cabs from 38-9. If it's a 40 it will have sealed beam headlights, 39's still used bulbs with lenses. Check out the cab over pictures site for better pictures, great resource. So I would have to say you have a 38 and a 41 - 47. I learned something new about cabovers. If you can find the Vin # you should be able to get the exact year.
the 38 (yellow) has round guages, while the other one has a rectangular instrument panel, similar to the one in my 46 merc pickup
Regular 40 Ford pickups had rectangular instrument clusters. 39 Pickups still had round gauges. So I'm ***uming 40 - 47 on the other truck. Vin # will tell for sure.
