Ford Engine swap

Discussion in 'The Hokey Ass Message Board' started by OilDevil13, Mar 19, 2006.

  1. I have a 5.0 EFI Lincoln in my 86 towncar. I have a very tired 289 (69 Galaxie ?!?) in my 64 Fairlane. Ive heard that the intake off the 289 will work with the 302.... but the cut off year is 86 or 87.... Im going to try to keep the fuel injection.... but I want to have my back up plan... can anyone confirm or deny? I dont have much faith in myself when it comes to all the electronics.... and will probobly end up using the carb... what do the experts think? Help me out fellas... "you're the guys that think this **** up....."

    thanks

The intake will work - there is no cutoff year.

There's an aftermarket harness ***embly for the fuely motor just for swaps like this.......Although i just noticed it's an '86....Is it a throttle body or port injected?....If it's throttle body, i would run the carb

  4. Its got fuel rails, and injectors. and a ****load of HR Geiger looking wiring. Who makes the harness? Im doing this car for my "I hate old cars" wife. She hasnt figured out that I wouldnt buy something new even if we could afford it. Im kinda wanting this car to come out smooth... mebbe Ill get a little more support for the other junkpiles Ive got laying around
