Anyone know where I can find information on rebuilding a 1952 Ford FI pickup steering box? I know there's some information in Vern Tardel's book, but he doesn't cover disassembly or shortening the shaft. One thing I'm wondering is if the worm gear is pressed on. I'm going to run a '37 Ford column with the stock column drop and lock, and I need to cut the length down. So can I remove the worm gear, cut the shaft down, and press the gear back on?

Ok, call off the dogs. I was looking through the tech articles and found what I need.
