I see new Ford F1 emblems all over the place new: Dennis Carpenter even sells 'em. But I have an F2... does anybody know where I can find a set of F2 emblems? Am I stuck finding a pair from a parts truck? Anybody have a pair, no matter how bad off, they might like to get rid of? ~Jason
I should have a pair still on the pickup. I will check next time im at the shop. How are they held on?
I believe they're just held on with clips from the back side. Hey - thanks a lot, sir. I really appreciate it! ~Jason
Anybody else know how these are held on? My F2 was a basket case, and didn't come with emblems - and I've never had the pleasure of knowing a Bonus Built this intimately. ~Jason
Jason, Almost none of F-2 (or early F-250, for that matter) trim is reproduced, unless it happens to be the same part as the F-1 & F-100 stuff...not enough market. A guy I know slightly was working on casting F-2 & F-250 emblems for himself, and had planned on making a limited number of extras...but he has had severe health problems for 2-3 years now & I don't believe he's ever finished any. If you don't have any luck here, go to the FTE site http://www.ford-trucks.com/forums/index.php & ask on the '48-'60 forum....someone there can likely help you out. Depending on the year, they are held on with nuts, clip nuts (Tinnerman nuts), or the stud itself has an expansion "clip" that holds it in place...which is fairly easy to remove, but not necessarily going to stay there when it's put back on....so you use a Tinnerman nut.
Yeah, I'd noticed that LMC Truck seems to be the only folks that carry any F2 stuff - and no one has any F2 specific trim... but then again, they really weren't that pretty, being 3/4-ton workhorses and all, and about the only F2-specific anything is the badges. briggs&strattonChev is helping me out on these, but in the event he doesn't have 'em, would you mind shooting that guy an email to see if he ever did get any cast? I really love my old farm truck. ~Jason
A good place to get hard to find parts for bonusbuilt trucks. Is here: www.chuckstrucksllc.com I have bought numberous odd parts off him for my trucks he is very knoledgeable and helpful.
Jason, Sac Vintage carries a few 3/4 ton parts as well, probably whatever is still available, as opposed to new reproductions. I'd be happy to e-mail him & will, but from what I've heard he generally does not respond due to his health. He is a great guy & much missed over on FTE. He has a web site that is full of good info, some of which may help you: http://www.clubfte.com/users/earl/index.html I also will look to see if I still have anything usable. If you could get some rough emblems to use for patterns, might be worth casting them up yourself.
I've been toying with that idea, but for now am just trying to find a set! Even so, there IS a foundry here in town... the one Charlie Price uses... ~Jason
FYI, Chuck says that the F-2 emblems for '48 and '49 were cast, and thusly, many are pitted really badly. He says that Ford changed to stainless for 1950, and they're a one-year-only type-deal. Either way, cast or stainless, I'm not really particular as to what their composition is - I just need a set. ~Jason
Also, FYI - here's a guy asking the same question: http://www.ford-trucks.com/forums/733450-f2-emblem.html ~Jason
