As the title says, I'm looking for information on swapping out the 360FE/Cruise-o-tragic in my 1965 galaxie for a 302/C4. The 302 is fully dressed, and I have the small block galaxie motor mounts for it. Curious about trans cross member, shift linkage etc. Please keep the "why would you do that yadda yadda" comments to yourselves. The FE has 0 oil pressure and enough blow by that it pops the breathers out, and the cruise-o-matic is a slip-n-slide. I already happen to have a rebuilt roller 302 and c4 with 10k miles pulled from a 65 mustang showcar. Older gentleman, was swapping to a 347 stroker and offered to give me a hell of a deal if I helped him pull it. Not often you can buy a fresh rebuilt drivetrain after riding in the car to confirm it runs/shifts. In my opinion, plenty of these cars came with 289s and even 6 cylinders, so a healthy 302 will make a nice reliable cruiser. I'm not wasting time putting yet another FE in this rig. Any info is appreciated!
It’s bolt in swap . Best I remember , lower hose is on opposite side . This can be fixed with pump swap . Driveshaft will need a new yoke and probably different length , exhaust is next . I had a 66 Custom 300 , I went the other way with , 289 to 390 . It will no longer be a power house , but it will cruise just fine
