Has any one ever taken the points plate from a single breaker 41 to 47 g series 6 cly engine and fitted it into a 42 to 48 8 cyl unit? I am going to conduct a little experiment to see if it works. just wanted to hear some feedback if it has ever been played around with, or is it just a complete waste of time. thanks all, Josh

I gotta know ?? Why would you want to do that??
I think the point plate is the same , however the distributor cams are different.

If you want a minor and probably meaningless ignition downgrade, it would be even easier to just yank the cotter and 3 screws and toss the passenger side points...
all 6 parts will go in there (the crab was actually introduced as a 6 cylinder distributor only in 1941!), but with the 8 plate you don't even need to engage the brain cells to get firing point back to correct...
