Looks like it may be part of a KRW valve adjustment setup. KRW made towers which raised an intake manifold about 10" so the valves could be adjusted while the engine was running. That red paint showing through the 1-bbl manifold coat of many colors is very KRW Red looking.

Most likely for an old Smiths air compressor conversion on the Ford engine: 4 cylinders running; 4 cylinders pumping air.

How would you adjust the valves on a flathead with it running?????

You cannot on a stocker; the KRW kit was a set of risers about a foot high (I have a set of those somewhere) and a little gas can that attached to the carb...dealer was supposed to cut away ends of a s**** Detroit Lubricator type manifold, mount it on the risers, and run the engine while looking for souces of noise or whatever. Probably too complicated and messy to be of much use.
Pretty certainly a compressor manifold...I think there is a picture trackable on Google Patent database of both B and V8 compressor heads and manifolds.

This is from a Schramm air compressor called a "Fordair 60" . Runs with 4 cylinders and pumps with the other 4. It puts out 60 CFM at 100PSI. Probably enough to run a couple of jackhammers.

The very first flathead V8's that came out in 1932 had a single hole carb on them.

The Detroit Lubricator 1bbl carb was used in 1932 and 1933. 34 was the first use of the 2bbl carb.

Had a stuck valve so I pulled the manifold and freed it up so now it turns OK, good compression etc so it's ready to roll. Thanks for the tech manual. Startup coming soon. Hows the bellytanker coming? How about an update!!

Schramm Fordair 60 it is. Do you have any parts for such a beast? I need parts for one that I am restoring.
