Anyone know how thick aluminum heads are on the outside surfaces for a ford flathead. I have a new pair of edelbrock heads that I am polishing on the outside. They are pretty uneven and I am am trying to sand them realtively flat but I dont want to take too much material off.

I had a pair of reputation heads polished by an experienced polisher and lots of pin holes showed up along the edges. Supplier did replace them saying they had a run of bad heads.

Dont think you can hand sand enough material to hurt. They are fairly thick.just dont take a heavy grinder to them...
