Hot Rods Ford Frame info needed

Discussion in 'The Hokey Ass Message Board' started by Michael Dyren, Oct 7, 2020.

  1. Hello All
I have a Ford frame stamped Star 18-633XXX star

Can anyone confirm that it is a 34 passenger car or is it something else?

    Many thanks in advance

  2. I am not an expert but I think that numbers starting with 18 are 1932 frames. Got a photo of the side rails?

    Find it here:

Seems to fall into the proper '34 range

    Looks like a Model 40 1934

  5. Thanks for the advice as to the frame - never thought of unethical people

  6. There is no bead on the side as I thought all 32 frames had
    Thanks for helping

  7. Yes, a 32 does have the reveal line. But it looks like Big Deuce & Budget36 gave you the right info. Like I said, I am no expert.

  8. The serial number was assigned to the original engine/trans unit and stamped on the bell of the trans above the clutch inspection window. When that engine/trans unit was bolted into a chassis, they literally had a guy there with a hammer and a set of number stamps who copied the number of the trans bell onto the frame. Model 18 did denote the '32 V8 Ford, but the 18-prefix appeared on V8 car and pickup frames up through '40 cars and '41 pickups. The '37-'40 V8 60 HP cars and pickups had a 54- prefix.
