After a long weekend thrash, I fired up the small block Ford motor in the 1963 Austin-Healey 3000 today: Sounds good, huh? Motor is a 5.0 with TFS-1 cam, Holley Street Avenger 570 and an Edelbrock Performer Air Gap. Rest of the details in the build log link in my sig.
Lookin good Rick- I have a 1960 3000 Mk1 with a 283 Chevy in it, very similar to yours- stock looking car on the outside- v8 power on the inside. Spend some time insulating your foot wells, and plug every oriface on the firewall, cause it gets HOT in there with the V8!! Also- get used to bottoming out the exhaust at every bump in the road, I am going to have to re-do mine with a different style muffler. 4" tall flowmasters just don't give enough ground clearance. Whats your muffler setup look like? How do you like your 3.54 gear conversion? Stock steering? Matt
Thanks, Matt. I plan on insulating with Reflexix aluminum from the big box store. I've also painted the floor with DP40 with micro beads added (kind of like poor man's Lizard Skin) My mufflers are going to be Spintech Cruisers that are 2 1/4" tall, smallest I could find. Haven't driven with the 3.54 yet, but the 3.55 is pretty popular with the Cobra kit car crowd, so I think it will be a good fit. Steering is stock
