Hi Guy`s .Please Please help... Ive purchased some aftermarket wheels for my 35 Ford truck & the SS 46 Ford hub caps Im using will not fit. Could someone please tell me were can I purchase a set of weld on adapters from. I know someone makes them but can`t find the address...Thanks for reading...........Bri
So, If i'm thinking correctly you have 1946 Ford hucaps that fit a wheel with inside nubs? Right? And now you've bought new wheels with an outside nub? or an inside nub? I'm not sure that I've seen an adapter for your specific caps, most of the adapters are for the more popular 32-35 V8 caps to fit onto newer wheels. You could try and find a set of caps that fit your new wheels and make your own adapters, I don't think it would be too difficult. If you can get some pictures of your setup we may be able to help you more. Jeff
Another old method was to thread 1/4 x 20 round head screws into the inner dia. of the new wheels to provide the "bumps" to seat the caps. Of course there's a lot of variables that may make that feasible or not. My .02$
Thanks for your replys guy`s. The nubs are on the inside of the wheel centre. I did buy these adapters Im after for a 33 Ford pk up I built 5 yrs ago. You have to cut the bottom ring off the 46 Ford hubs & then you spot weld the new adapter on & the caps then fit OK. I just cant find the company that made them..........Cheer`s Bri..
For God's sake, what has happened to our manufacturing and marketing people? It isn't rocket science. The inside *** Ford wheels accept hubcaps from 1940 to the 60s pickups. Is there no one in the business who gives enough of a damn to make a ****ing wheel that will accept a hubcap anymore? I've seen variations of this post about wheels and hubcaps and hubcaps and wheels for years now. Same thing with freakin' bias ply tires... out of round, manufacturing defects, etc. seem to be the norm rather than the rare exception. No such thing as quality control, employee training, etc.? WHAT? Oh, no one cares. nevermind.
Here`s a pic of the after market wheel.Ive just purchased 5 wheels I thought they were Vintiqe wheels..........
GAWD, those things are ugly, no wonder you need hubcaps, it should be against the law to sell something like that except for donut spares. Those mounting ***s for the Ford hubcaps look small and improperly placed too. Honestly, how hard can it be to duplicate a wheel center for a hubcap to fit?
