I believe 51 was the last year for 5.5. bolt pattern. 52 was same as small Ford car starting in 1949.

Mercury 49/50/51 has 5,5 x 5 , Ford does not

 

I missed a word as in Mercury. 51 Mercury was still 5.5

 

yes 49-53 ford cars all had the 5x4.5 bolt pattern. Mercury 49-51 were 5x5.5 and 52-53 merc were the small pattern.

The widths vary on the 5x4.5 wheels also. Front of wheel will look the same but the width can be about 1/2 wider on some. Probably wagons and Mercurys.
