Hot Rods Ford Model A Coupes - How Good Are They...

They're cheaper and more available than 32s-34s. If it weren't for Model As, 80% of us wouldn't have hot rods/projects. I would hands down take a 32-33-34 over an A any day.

I have an unmolested 31 coupe I bought in California
a few years back. It is tucked away in my shop needing
some motor attention.(knocks, really knocks) My
son never really paid it much attention. He is police
offer in New Orleans. Recently he encountered the
president and several members of the New Orleans A's Club. they are in his district and invited him to stop by their gathering garage. Now he is all about getting the
A up and running! I told him to get after it, as I just do
not have the time. I hope he pursues the repairs and
takes the coupe and enjoys it. I did trailer it from Pismo Beach to New Orleans. No one here gave it a second glance, but I like it a lot.

 

I am a 32 guy but a Model A coupe is the cats *** for hot rods Plus a hard chop nasty nasty motor Like the Model A **** bottom pic and wicked great looking Hot Rod.

My Coupe, built it 33+ years ago ... daily driver to work at The Rod Shoppe.... makes me smile everyday

 

78, old lady 76, still enjoy road trips in the coupe. We are not little people but not oversize either and we are very comfortable. All in the mind, I guess.

Seriously though, some beautiful cars on this thread, and more interesting is the differing styles of Henry’s little 4 cylinder, still in use at 90 plus years old !

I had a 30 coupe in 1969, sold it, regretted it, 30 years later I built this 29 as a highboy, 18 years later, during the covid 19 stay at home, I found and restored fenders and put them on, totally changing the look. I like all the 5 window coupes. I liked it as a highboy, and now I am much older I like it with the fenders. Especially like the 28-29 front fenders. The colour is amazing.
The early A fenders are in my opinion the best looking fenders ever put on a car.
Addition of fenders to yours just seems to be right !

 

Just found this thread, don't know how I missed it for years. Seems like a bump will get some new players. I built my '30, used it for a summer and sold it 10 years ago (dumb). Was able to buy it back and am planning on driving the wheels off.

 

I'm not a 32 guy never was I prefer the 33 ,34's the 30,31's have a nicer roof and fender design than the 32 so when you hammer the roof it has a bad *** look.

Some of my favourites have been posted, I will throw in a couple more. Good looking sport coupe robbed from some hamb coverage likely from a TROG adventure. Not my car not my picture. Not easy to get it to look this good, nice exhaust and rubber rake, props to the builder.

 

Here is one of my own- pictures that is. Spotted at the Villages in Fla a few years back, had a great visit with the owner. I am in the 30/32 aficionados club, visor is one of the best features.

I had a '29 standard in college. It attracted the attention of the ladies whenever I crank started it in the community college parking lot. Loved that car but the heater was inadequate, no radio and pretty basic.

 

Not many cabriolet convertible coupes posted in the thread. My 1929 is a little different looking than other 29s as it has a Briggs body with design features not added to regular production until the 32 came out. Another rare favorite of mine is the rare 1929 oval window business coupe.
