I have a 1935 ford 2dr sedan which I am building another flathead motor for. The motor I plan to put in comes with a 3spd with overdrive ****** which I would like very much to use, but I am told that the shift control levers on the ****** case are located in the wrong position to set up a floor shifter, since the ****** came from a 1950 ford with a column shifter. Is this true or can this ****** be set up with a floor shifter in my 1935 ford? Thanks for the help.
The shift levers are on the side of the gearbox... if yours aint, i dunno what trans you have. just locate and buy a hurst indy shifter, or a mister gasket kit and you're good to go.
Your transmission is not the same one that the car came with, but can be used if you are determined enough. Keep in mind that the '50 trans is designed for an open drive, while the '35 came with closed drive. The shifter is only the half of it....
I believe the solenoid sticks out and interferes with the forward facing floor shift rods when the floor shifter is located in the normal position on the tail housing. Be different and put a 40 steering column in it and run 3 on the tree.
Tommy, i had an indy shifer on a 54 OD ford trans an they're the exact box...no trouble with the mount, and only a few small bends in the linkage to clear the solenoid. i'll hunt down some pics tonight @ home
