Hot Rods Ford Piston questions

    Well, it's been awhile, but I finally got it bored out to.020 over and picked up some Egge pistons and New rings. My top ring gap is around.007. I think the book I have says .012 to .014.
    The bores are nice and straight now so would.007 be too tight?

    Go with what the book says, .012-.014 if you install at .007 you'll soon be boring the block again to get out the scars from when those new rings get hot, expand and butt the ends together and on continued expansion, the rings buckle and break, then eat up the ring grooves in the piston(s) and scratch the cylinder bores all to hell.

    My Green book says: .007 min...If you use the old formula of .0025 gap per inch of bore it comes out to close to .008..What book? I'd go by what the ring manufacturer wants..

    Not sure about the squirt holes but it they are numbered the numbers should face the outside.
