Hey all! Im trying to remove the p/s conrol valve in my '63 Merc. Ive gotten as far as actually unscrewing it from the center link, but I cant get the little pin out. It busted off with just enough poking out still to prevent rotation, but not enough to grab with anything to pull it out. I dont see any hole on the opposite side to get a punch in or anything... is a drill going to be my friend here?

Try placing a nut about the same size as the pin over the top of the pin and mig welding through the center of the nut to weld it to the pin. Then take a pair of vice grips and pull on the nut to remove it.

Problem solved!!! Well, not physically, but I know how I'm going to attack it now. I found a great guy to rebuild this thing for me, and he explained that the pin is only there for the purpose of lining the control valve up correctly on the center link. Therefore, the easiest method is to drill a new hole for a new pin right next to the old one. Easy as that! I am, however, going to have to grind down the little bit of the old pin with my dremel so it doesn't tear up the threads...

for those interested, the website is stangerssite.com this guy is very knowledgeable, and a nice guy too!
