what was the popular steering box they used at that time (dry lakes) in let's say, a 1927 T roadster pickup?
(sorry not to clarify in my earlier post)

If your using an A frame, the later A steering box was popular. With a '32 frame most seem to use the '32 box. Ross and Franklin steering was popular with the circle track guys and may have been used for lakes also. These may be hard to find though.

Ross were popular. I see one once in a while still at a swap. Just put this one in my roadster. Took it around the block the other day. Like the way it steers.
