I know that the 1947 Ford Panel truck shares the design as the 1937-1940 car box. Both the car and the the 1942-1947 Ford truck boxes indicate a 3575 sector shaft. Can someone please confirm if either of these would in fact fit (81-T3575x or 01T-3575x)? What is the official "3575" part number I need to be looking for?

They are both for 134”-158”-194” wheelbase trucks except COE. The 134” wheelbase is 1.5 ton truck. This is based on Ford chassis parts and price book. I know the trucks have a larger diameter steering shaft.

    Thank you 31Apickup!
So these would not work? I got 1/2 way thru rebuilding my box this weekend, and cant get my sector gear back in to the box with the new bushings. My sector has some pitting right below the pitman spline, so i don't know if that is the issue or if the new bushings are the issue. Started looking and found these couple sectors.

  4. I made the mistake of buying a nos sector because the price was real cheap. It was for the larger truck, and was 15 percent larger than the half ton/car.Theres a reason that nos stuff is still around....it doesnt fit anything car guys are interested in.

Sector shaft bushings need to be sized after being pressed in.

That was my thought, but got excited with the cheap NOS parts. Where do I find the needed dimensions on those bushings?

The machine shop should hone them to fit the particular sector you will use. And tell them that it should be looser than a hand press fit. Need a little room in there for the grease too.

Why don’t you show us the sector you have? If it doesn’t have grooves worn in it, maybe the rust pits aren’t bad enough to require replacing. Is the rust cleaned off now? Is the roller in good shape?

Im going to. I wasn't able to get into the new bushings. thought the dirty end was the issue. Didn't think about reaming them out.

Too dirty to see what’s going on there. If there are pits on the roller you would need to replace that at the least. But if there are grooves where the bushings rode, it’s garbage.

If the shaft is otherwise usable, the pits can be filled with J-B Weld and sanded smooth. If you use something like corn head grease for lube, the seal will work just fine.

this box was in my in my roadster I believe it was a 42-47 bigger truck box. it had a welded pitman arm on it never broke just didn't trust it. when I replaced it I found the sector shaft & steering shaft was bigger than standard car or light truck .it drove & steered well [IMG]

All the sectors from passenger and light pickups from 37 to 48, and also F1’s to 52 are the same part and will interchange. Gives a large pool to fish from.
