IMG_1001.jpeg IMG_0999.jpeg IMG_0998.jpeg Picked this up and would like to use it on my build. Before I restore it I need to understand how it worked originally. Some question.
    - what is the purpose of the spring-loaded “pin” on the inside of the column support?
    - likewise on the other side that slide out when the key is use?
    - for wiring the marks read Battery, Coil and Gage. I assume you the Battery is hot in?

    thanks!!

I don't know anything about them, but I can kind of read a schematic, and yeah, the Batt is power in, Coil is power out, Gauge is power out to power the gauges. Assuming it's the same as a 37

and the pin is the steering lock. Fits into a notch in the steering shaft, I think.

The spring loaded pin is the column lock. It fits into a sleeve on the steering shaft when the key is in the off position.

  5. Don,t forget you push a starter button on the dash to actually start.

Thanks all, that’s what I thought but wanted to confirm as the switch isn’t making contact from the batt side. Time to take it apart.

Also should be able to remove key when
switch in ""Off"" even if not using the steering shaft lock , lock can be easily added to steering shaft, a
round stock / wedding band ,needs to be made ( .500 - .750 wide) to attached to shaft & outside diameter needs to be
.010 to .020 smaller then inside tube diameter.
Hole in tube & a single slot in shaft
    Typically when the steering
    wheel / shaft is straight,(lock)
If 1/4 doll pin fore-say , slot a few thou bigger
