ford three speed

    i just got a 3 speed the tail shaft is to long is easy to con vert to swich with the right one or is easer to shorten the drive shaft. i have done tailshaft converson on jeeps be for is it close to the same my ****** is out of a truck the one i got is out of a car

    What make and year 3 speed you got? Back in the day I swapped a 50 Ford tailshaft onto a 55 3 speed transmission to make it shorter.If I remember correctly, it was just an easy swap with everything fitting perfectly.

    the third gear went out in my 1957 f 100 it is a stcok 223 with maching three speed with almost no tailshaft i bought a ****** out of 1959 farlaine with a 223 and three speed the ****** is the same but the tailshaft is like 12 inches longer

    3 choices 1 get the correct trans
    2 shorten driveshaft
    3 with a bit of luck exchange main shaft and housing from old trans to new.***uming the mainshaft is not damaged.

    just do the driveshaft quick and easy cheper get u on the road
